CHARACTER NAME: Morgana
CHARACTER AGE: Unknown
SERIES: Persona 5
CHRONOLOGY: Post True Ending - Just as he vanishes.
CLASS: Vigilante Hero
HOUSING: Anywhere in Heropa!
BACKGROUND: Right here, mreow~!
Persona 5 is an urban fantasy RPG that takes place in modern Tokyo in 2017. The protags are a group of teens (and Morgana) who call themselves the Phantom Thieves after they discover the alternate universe - the Metaverse - and the power to change peoples' hearts to get them to confess their crimes. To do this, they must battle the person's Shadow form inside their palace and steal their treasure. Morgana is one of the founding members and is met in the first Palace of Kamoshida's creation. Akira and Ryuji stumble across him held imprisoned while they are stuck there and Morgana helps them, in exchange for helping him. Morgana is a crucial member, and without him it wouldn't have been possible to start the Phantom Thieves, as he understands how the Metaverse works.
He also introduces them to Mementos later on where he can turn into a bus...
PERSONALITY:
Morgana was created from the large sum of humanity's hope by Igor. He is hope personified into the being he is and is presented. Yes, the cognition of human hope is a cat.
Okay, so Morgana isn't literally a cat (and if you ever say that to him, expect an angry retort!) but his image is that of one. He grooms himself (in either form), meows, purrs and loves sushi, so it's understandable to see him as such. It's something that bothers him greatly, as he desires to be human like the rest of his friends. He honestly truly believes he is human for most of the game, due in part not remembering a single thing about where he came from, though he has now come to accept in full who he truly is (but he's still not a cat, okay?).
Being the cognition of humanity's hope, Morgana is just that. Full of hope. It's pretty hard to get him down. He's a cheerful character and energetic. He pushes the group forward towards their goals with gusto. He can come across quite childish too, especially with his extreme desire for treasure, his silly dreams and wishes, his chasing of Lady Ann's affection, as well as getting easily riled up by Ryuji's comments. Despite this, he can also be the one voice of reason and motivation. He didn't falter during the final battle and motivated the Thieves, as well as the rest of humanity, to believe in themselves and to "Take the World" from a God who had given up on humanity long ago. He even gives an uplifting speech to the group as he is disappearing. Even when he believes he will never see them again he doesn't mope or cry, he uplifts the friends he's made to encourage them to have the hope to change the world for the better for themselves. Morgana may come across selfish, but he's very loyal and empathetic when it count.
He's extremely determined and vocal in his goals, no matter how big or small. If Morgana wants something, he will let you know about it. Getting the treasure, impressing Lady Ann, becoming human, doesn't matter Morgana will do his very best to achieve these goals and won't let anyone (God or otherwise) get in his way when his mind is set on something.
Morgana is extremely full of himself, to the point he initially comes across as very confident in his abilities and himself and extremely egotistical. When he's first introduced, Morgana immediately acts as a sort of mentor to Akira and Ryuji in Kamoshida's dungeon, giving them advice on how to deal with the situation and the Shadows. He really does seem quite knowledgable and even becomes their navigator in battles (while fighting the Shadows at the same time, fancy that!). He gets a sense of satisfaction from being able to explain things others don't understand. Being able to teach people helps to boost his already massive ego and he enjoys acting like he's better than others. This doesn't mean he always thinks he's right, he knows when he's messes up, and he does have his self-doubts, but he really thinks highly of himself and likes it when others take his advice seriously.
Morgana's self-doubt is brought to the surface more clearly once Futaba joins the group and takes on the role of Navigator. Morgana wants, no, needs to be useful, but feels under-appreciated and replaced by someone better and starts to doubt himself. Every little comment made against him (and the fact no one seems to be wanting to agree to his plan for the next palace) gets his back up to a point he storms off in anger, feeling he can achieve his goals without them, especially if they no longer need him or will question his every advice. For all the confidence and know-it-all attitude Morgana displays, he has uncertainty and self doubt in the back of his mind, even to a point of having nightmares of himself as a Shadow causing him to have a small existential crisis. He does eventually comes round and re-joins the group after much arguing and chasing him in his bus form around Mementos. Joy.
To sum it up: Morgana is a hopeful, cheerful character, with a slice of childish behaviour and antics and a dashing of self-doubt. Who happens to look like a cat.
POWER:
Persona - Morgana will enter with the power to summon Zorro, the first form of his Persona with the chance to gain Mercurius at a later point. With the Power of Zorro he has the following skills:
Garu - Does small wind damage attack to one person
Lucky Punch - Miniscule Physical damage to 1 foe, but it has a small chance to do high damage. This move hurts Morgana a little also.
Media - A small amount of healing up to 3 people (does less the more used at once with it, so heals better if only used on a singular)
His Persona makes him weak to Electric moves.
Transformation - Morgana's true form is that of the anthropomorphic bipedal form, but he can transform into an average looking cat. He can also turn into a bus to transport people around. I'm hoping this will be okay and can be nerfed so he's not just a bus 24/7. Also when in his average cat form, he can only communicate with people who have the Persona power listed in the game (including Persona users from the other games) but others will just hear him meowing. This is true to canon as those who haven't awakened to a Persona can't hear him speaking in the real world.
Heist - This power allows Morgana to pick locks, create infiltration tools and the like and just do general cat burglary shenanigans easier. Of course he can't just infiltrate and pick any lock he feels like, and he can't build something extravagant like a teleporter or safe cracker. But think of items such as smoke bombs, miniature bombs, lock picks.
